Notes: The Group received a very early briefing--at 0100 hours. 36 operational aircraft and two spares were airborne by 0533. By 1424 all operational aircraft had returned.

Summary: In this mission to the German Rocket development center at Peenemunde, on the Baltic Sea coast, the 401st, with Col. Rogener as Air Commander, led the entire 1st Air Division, providing the Lead and Low Boxes of the 94th Combat Wing "A" formation. The weather was clear and, as a result, visual bombing resulted in excellent results.
Flak over the target was described as moderate and fairly accurate, as a result of which seven of the Group's aircraft received battle damage.
