B-17  401st BG 615th Sq    IY-P Help needed

Today I got two photos of a crashed B-17 somewhere in (?) Germany. The only visible marikings are :  IY-P
maybe someone here can give me more informations about the plane and the crew ?

According to the list of B-17 Assigned to the 401st there were 4 B-17's that carried the codes IY-P, they were -

43-38758 this a/c was also assigned to the 613th BS and this a/c was rtnd to the US at the end of the war.

42-6310 This a/c was MIA 10.9.44 crashed heinerdingen,germany. ROCKY LOIS. 2nd lt wb woodward (p)Flt O JF Glidewell (CP)2nd Lt O R Mcmahon (N)2nd Lt D A Eckers (B)t/sgt j m lech (Radio op)T/sgt A J Pedgarney (ENG/T)s/sgt TH Schappert (Ball/T)s/sgt DG Steel (Tailgunner) & s/sgt J Pasillas (Waist gunner

Thanks a lot for this informations.
I believe it will be 42-6310 because there was some other photos of a crashed B-24 in the same area, September 10th a B-24 of the 446. was lost - so I see the single B-24 loss in the same area as the IY-P´s.
Hope to get some other photos maybe there´s more to see. The crash side must be Heimerdingen near Munich.

I believe the serial number should be 44-6310. No known photos in the National Archives.  There was no 43-6310 in the 401st according to the Bits and Pieces Project booklet that lists First Air Division B-17s by group and serial numbers.
