The New Forum

I see once again we can't access the new website forum which means we can't follow threads or talk to the guru Paul Bellamy can the moderator create a peronal message facility through this forum which always seems to be available and is the new website really worth the effort as it seems to be down on a very regular basis. I'm only glad I've stored all the really good data elsewhere. Very frustrated.

I agree with the frustration about the new forum; I am not comfortable with any part of it!  Can you tell me how to store all of the data elsewhere?  Wonder why we didn't have a choice about whether or not go have the "new and improved" site shoved at us?

Not to worry Dale, I still check this forum regularly. ;)

Yes, the New Forum has a disturbing tendancy to go offline at times. There are a number of possible reasons for his, most of which can be resolved one way or another.
I have been on this, the "Old Forum", since at least 2002, and while it has been a boon, it is really just a bulletin board, even with the search function it isn't the easiest place to look for things.

Time has moved on, as it tends to do, and the format of the New Forum, once the registration (mainly to prevent unwanted use of personal information, something the Old Forum just wasn't set up to do as it wasn't a problem then) and instability issues (Maybe a bandwidth problem, it seems the whole domain suffers) are accepted, really is the way forward for ease of use, and access to the information many visitors are after.

I'm sure the New Forum will be up and running again soon, and if anyone here is having problems using it please let me know and I'll do my utmost to assist.

All the best,
Paul

Guys? :)

The new forum might have it's problems, but it's type of forum that is the de-facto standard for all the other forums out there on the 'Net.

It appears to have installation issues; I suspect it wasn't installed correctly. Hopefully, there are working those issues out.

However, I refuse to put my "real" email address, for example, in this forum because it clearly does not have protection from email phishing. The new forum, if properly set up, would offer such protections.

Ed.

It seems that this was an issue of the server going down and this created the problem. This information provided as I know it.

All is back up now and running.
