John Amos: our record of the Stimson crew includes the notation that Sgt. Paul Amos flew with the Stimson crew as a spare "substitute" and was wounded on the mission to Politz April 11, 1944. It describes Paul as the "third individual in the back row" of the crew photograph.

Thank You George. I am aware of the notation and the photo. This addition was made last week at my request. The addition is based on the fact that My family has had this same photograph of my Dad and the crew throughout our lives. I did not know who the others were until I received copies of my fathers military records and discovered his assignment to the 614th Sq. by virtue of notation on his Purple Heart award. I am researching to the best of my ability to find out why he was not mentioned in the groups official record. I may have to go to the archives in Washington, DC to locate further information.

John,
Vic Maslen books which were used to reproduce what records are shown on the net is from a static point of view. His records came from what he saved from being destroyed at the Airbase after the war and therefore does't gived a day by day account of who flew with who all the time. You can obtain the load list of the 614th from the national archives for which missions your Dad may have flown but it is not cheap and you may have to get the entire mission report which would cost about $30-$40 each but you might be able to get just the load list but they didn't start till later in the war.

Thanks for this information. I must show my ignorance though and ask what is a "load list"? Do you know whether I can obtain such documents from the national archives by mail?

National Archives II I will have to hunt down the address. I am not sure how they will answer but the form is an SF 180 I think.
