I have very recently obtained the military personnel record of my dad, Paul J. Amos ser# 15091243. He was a waist gunner and had been wounded in his left thigh by flak. According to the records that I have obtained he received the purple heart medal while assigned to the 401st Bomb Grp, 614th Bomb Squadron for wounds received on a bombing mission 11 April 1944.  I have checked out the website and located a photo of my father as a member of CPT Stimson's crew of the 614th.  I was able to make this identification by the photograph of the crew which includes my father.   What is disturbing is that his name is not included as a member of the crew.  I don't quite follow how this can be and wonder if anyone can shed some light on it for me??  Interestingly enough he arrived in England 31 Aug 42 and departed 6 Nov 44.  The records I possess fail to provide any details concerning his assignments.  What I have comes from the "Enlisted Record and Report of Separation Honorable Discharge" and three Records of Decoration for the "Air Medal(2)" and the "Purple Heart".
