Looking for anyone who knew my dad

My father, John Acres of Malden, Massachusettes was assigned to the 401st from what I have pieced together. He was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart during action in WWII. I am looking for someone who might have known him then. He was inducted in June of 1942 and was discharged at Fort Devans, MA in January of 1946. He was an enlisted man ( T-5). Can anyone help??? Thank you.

Am sorry but I looked through each squadron and crew listed in the 401st Bomb Group Turner book and found no John Acres. Are you sure he was with the 401st BG or could he have been with the 401st Squadron which is another bomb group all togeather the 390th BG.

Sorry it was the 91st BG that has the 401st Bomber Squadron in it.
