Did the 615th Sq prepare “Loading Lists” and “Formation at takeoff” diagrams for each mission?  If they did, where can I obtain a copy?  My father did not have a designated aircraft and I am trying to track down the aircraft he flew.

Bill - As a 'nephew' hunting similar info about my Uncle, a 613SQ Radioman, here's sources I've used so-far (although I'm not 'done' yet):
1. This 401BG Website 'History' pages: These have good crew, mission and A/C info to help you construct your Dad's crew(s), missions and A/C - presuming you do not have this basic info already;
2. The 615 Squadron History, by Vic Maslen: This is similar to, but may be more detailed than, what's on the website presently; and
3. The National Archives (College Park, Md.): The originals of the 401BG's Mission Reports are there. The ones I've obtained copies of so far (the earliest was Sept. '44) have all had both Loading Lists and Formation Diagrams for the Squadrons flying that day. You can inquire via letter or their Website's 'contact us'address. Be specific about what you want.  They'll respond about what they have and costs for copies. Write to: Nat'l. Archives & Records Administration (NWCTM); Textual Archives Services Division; 8601 Adelphi Road; College Park, Md., 20740-6001.

Two 'isms' I've learned include:
a. Some records - even the Official ones - contain conflicts or errors (see Norm Sisson's 'Politz' Forum posting below);
b. You never know when/where info you're looking for will 'pop-up' - so keep looking; and

The 401BG Historian, or other 615SQ members may also be able to help 'fill-in' info blanks, also.

Good hunting!

Please let me know if you find such items as I would like to know that info about my father as well.
