I'm trying to build a WW2 history on my uncle. He passed away some time ago, and I need to preserve his memory for my son, and nephews. All we have is his A-2 with a red devil head and green bomb across it, his flight helmet, and a Russian translation card, "Ya Amerikanets". We have a photograph of him standing next to a B-17 named, "Berlin Express" (Could have been a buddy's plane). Also know that he went to Scotland and got his hair cut by a distant relative. He played the banjo all his life, and might have done so at Deenethorpe. (Might jog a memory or two) Thankyou in advance for any help, and thankyou most of all for your courage and sacrifices for this, and future generations to come!

Sincerely,
Pat Brody

Regarding the B-17 "Berlin Express", it was part of the 390Group, 571Squadron, Ser # 42-97473 as per Wallace R Foreman's book "B-17 nose art name directory".  Most likely was a buddy's plane.
